 Do you have titbits of knowledge that you feel must connect somehow but don't know how?


I  never know where to place them or keep track of them, but I'm going to try here. I shall try and keep them in family names.

PHILLIPS - KELLY - EACRET

In 1842 Richard KELLY & his wife Mary (nee EACRET) migrated with two of their children aboard Duke of Roxburgh and had in their care Anne PHILLIPS (20 year old from Leahy, Laois Queens County, Ireland) (Records show an Anne Phillips married Joseph Goodwin and settled at Tangmangaroo)


PHILLIPS - CONNOLLY - DODD

Michael PHILIPS wife was Mary CONNOLLY. Ann CONNOLLY married Patrick DODD who was involved in stealing meat with her brother Michael CONNOLLY. Could there be a relationship?


KELLY - DODD - COTTER

Catherine KELLY married Michael DODD, son of Patrick DODD (she became Catherine DODD), her sister-in-law Catherine DODD married Michael COTTER (becoming Catherine COTTER). A number of Catherine KELLY's relatives are named Mary Ann Kelly.


KELLY - PHILLIPS - COTTER - FLYNN

The witness to Mary Ann KELLY and Edward COTTER's marriage was Maria PHILLIPS.

On the church register Edward's parents were named as James Cotter (struck out) & Honora Cotter Horan (?) and Mary Ann's parents are James KELLY & Mary Ann FLYNN

Sarah Weatherstone Part 1 From Birth to Departure

Sarah Age 18, based on Convict Indent descriptions  When I was handed some family history papers on our Lang family, each person's background information took about a page. Sarah Weatherstone's entire life was written in 2 sentences. It seemed little was available on her in 2004, yet 10 years later she is the ancestor in my family tree that I know most about. I don't think I would have liked her, but then again she grew up in tough times and perhaps things would have been different for Sarah if she'd been born in a different place and time.  My research is ongoing and already new information has come to light and had me spending a few nights editing this post and Part 2.  Part 3 is being written, but the research is taking longer, because it's once she reaches Australia that we really do find out a lot about Sarah! Michael Cotter - The Details

I belong to the Cotter Clan. The last surviving male from my branch recently told me "you're definitely a Cotter". I never realised how much interest or information there was out there about my Cotter family. A great deal of the information carefully checked over and redistributed by one amazing Daffyd Cotter. The following profile is mostly put together with information supplied by Daffyd. As I have time I will include some of the stories I've learnt about Michael, including his time as a convict, the time he spent in goal, his family, being held up by bushrangers, and his death. 1809 or 1812 - born in or around Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland - (Father was James) 20th May 1830 - stole a sheep from a William Hennessy. Occupation listed as Ploughman & Reaper 21st May 1830 - arrested in Rathcormac with the stolen sheep 17th August 1830 - tried and found guilty for theft sometime between August and November 1830 - sentenced to seven years transportation to N.S.W.
